Fresh off her well-deserved Drag Race victory, Onya Nurve is ready for a starring role.

In an interview with GAY TIMES, the season 17 champion revealed that her dream is to achieve the coveted EGOT — and to star in a film alongside acclaimed Black actors like Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, Denzel Washington, and Lupita Nyong’o.

She added: “All in one movie, all in one space, is how I see it.”

Throughout the season, Onya memorably showed off her comedic chops — from the campy chaos of Ross Matthews vs The Ducks to her Snatch Game win in front of Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson.

Given how much she gushed about the Emmy-winning comedy, we told her a guest appearance felt inevitable.

Excited at the prospect, Onya responded: “Oh, it’s going to happen! That’s already stamped in stone in my brain. It is. That’s not even a dream. That’s going to happen…”

And it might not be far off. Brunson clearly took notice — on the panel, she expressed interest in seeing Onya “host Saturday Night Live one day,” adding that she’s a “fan” and that she “loves her”.

Across its acclaimed four-season run (so far), Abbott Elementary has welcomed a slew of iconic guest stars — including Taraji P. Henson, Bradley Cooper, Keegan-Michael Key, Leslie Odom Jr., Ayo Edebiri, and Jalen Hurts — and even featured a crossover with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Onya memorably triumphed over Jewels Sparkles in the Drag Race season 17 finale after the two powerhouses lip-synced to Lady Gaga’s iconic banger, ‘Abracadabra’.

With four maxi-challenge wins, multiple additional top placements and just one appearance in the lip-sync for your life, Onya cemented her status as one of the most formidable contestants in Drag Race herstory.

Onya also won praise from fans for her unwavering commitment to celebrating and uplifting Black culture on the runway.

As she told GAY TIMES: “There are so many entertainers in the world that look just like me and feel just like me, that they’re not good enough and have to work twice as hard as their white counterparts to get even half of what they have.

“I just want to be a reminder that, if you keep working hard and following your dreams, baby, you can also be a RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar.”

Drag superstar Lexi Love will be stepping away from the public eye.

On 27 April, the Drag Race season 17 finalist took to Instagram to announce her extended hiatus from the drag world.

“To my loyal family, friends, and fans – I’m taking a step back to nurture my mental, physical, and emotional well-being,” she wrote alongside a video.

“It’s time to transform my relationship with my inner saboteur – to understand it, disarm it and step fully into my strength.”

“This journey isn’t one I can take alone. I know I’ll need help, guidance, and grace along the way – and I am so grateful to have the love and support of this incredible community behind me.”

Towards the end of her statement, Lexi assured fans that she’ll “be ready to take on the world– bigger, better, and stronger than ever” when she returns.

“And to those who doubted me – thank you for reminding me that resilience is a choice, and I choose to rise. I Lexi Love You,“ she concluded.

Lexi’s post was immediately embraced by fans, who showered her with supportive messages.

One person on X/Twitter wrote: “We love you so much, so take all of the time you need <3 It’s important to take time to focus on yourself.“

Another fan echoed similar sentiments, tweeting: “WE LOVE YOU LEXI LOVEEE!!! WE’LL BE SUPPORTING AND WAITING FOR U.”

In an exclusive interview with GAY TIMES, Onya Nurve opens up about her Drag Race victory, the intentional choice behind skipping reveals in the final lip-sync, and her plans to secure an EGOT.

With a gargantuan 700k+ likes on her #TEAM post, Onya Nurve had already made herstory as the finalist with the most online support heading into a RuPaul’s Drag Race finale. It wasn’t a surprise, though — the theatre buff racked up four maxi-challenge wins over the season, including the coveted Snatch Game, all while consistently serving Black excellence with her unwavering celebration and homage to Black culture. Then, on 18 April, Onya dominated! the finale — showcasing her powerful vocals on the original track ‘It Do Take Nurve’, before abracadabra, amor-ooh-na-na’ing her way to glory in the final lip-sync smackdown against Jewels Sparkles.

While Onya has “barely had time to eat” or sleep since her win — thanks to a whirlwind of media and club appearances, including a guest stint on Good Morning America (major) — she’s already laser-focused on her next dream: conquering the EGOT. “I want to get my Emmy. I want to get my Grammy. I want to get my Tony. And I want to get my Oscar,” Onya tells GAY TIMES, adding that she also envisions buying her own home and, of course, continuing to be “the bad bitch that I am.”

Here, Onya Nurve reflects on her triumphant Drag Race season 17 journey — from the episode she’s most proud of, to her undeniable impact on future Black queens, and the legacy she hopes to leave behind. She also opens up about why she skipped a reveal during her ‘Abracadabra’ lip-sync, and spills which iconic show she’s destined to appear on. In the words of Onya herself: “It do take Nurve!”

Onya Nurve! America’s Next Drag Superstar! How are you feeling? Has it sunk in yet?

I don’t think so! I don’t think so. You can imagine how fast everything is moving. I’ve barely had time to eat, honey! So, it hasn’t really sunk in yet, but I am over the moon, girl.

You appeared on Good Morning America, too. I mean, how many hours of sleep have you had since being crowned?

I had zero hours of sleep before going on Good Morning America because I knew if I would’ve slept even a bit, I would’ve been a wreck. So I’m just like, ‘Girl, stay up and you’ll get your sleep after.’

Your lovely mum Nina was there to support you and, of course, your father appeared on Drag Race for the makeover. How do they feel knowing their child is America’s Next Drag Superstar?

I think they just stopped crying yesterday! They’re so excited, overwhelmed and overjoyed with emotion. I was so happy to make them proud.

You’ve made so many people proud and, Onya, you demolished that final lip-sync.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

What was it like stepping into that final moment on the stage to do the final lip-sync, with the pressure to secure the crown, but also the added challenge of doing justice to this iconic Lady Gaga banger?

My goal going into that lip-sync was just to be true to who I am as an entertainer. I know what I’ve always brought to the table, and it hasn’t failed me yet. So, I needed to trust that and really bet on myself just one more time.

You certainly gave Little Monster and did justice to the line, “Dance or Die”.

[Laughs] I understood the category!

Queens and Drag Race fans historically love a lip-sync reveal, but you opted not to. Not that you needed it. Was that intentional on your part, to show audiences that Onya Nurve can command a stage without a reveal moment?

It was intentional. Of course, I had other options, but at the end of the day… I mean, to be honest, I didn’t practice those options with nails, and I was definitely going on the stage with nails! But, I just told myself, ‘You are not a reveal queen. You’ve never done goops and gags. You are the goop and gag. So, you just go out there, give it your all and be yourself.’

You were “the Lady in Red”, anyway.

I absolutely was! That was the only thing that was pretty intentional as far as the presence of the song. I just knew I wanted to be in all red, and I felt like I would pull attention in that way. It obviously paid off!

It was queer joy at its finest. Ahead of the finale, you received more likes on a #Team post than any other finalist in Drag Race herstory…

Oh my god…

What was that like, to be met with so much love and support from fans?

Amazing. I’m not a social media girl, but getting on Drag Race helped me understand that social media is a very powerful source when it comes to being a queen and how the world sees you. So, it was very heartwarming to see that America – the world! – was riding for your girl!

Let’s talk about your standout moments this season. With four maxi-challenge wins and various top placements, there’s a lot; from your hilarious rendition of Laganja Estranja’s ‘Put Your Lighters Up’ to your Snatch Game-winning impersonation of Eddie Murphy and your interpretative dance with Lexi Love. And, of course, Ross Matthews vs The Ducks, comedy perfection and my personal favourite. Is there a moment you’re particularly proud of?

I think my proudest moment would probably be the RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! challenge. Hosting is the role that I really wanted to do, and I am a host outside of Drag Race a lot, so I felt really at home in that moment. I felt proud doing it. Also, doing Snatch Game as Eddie Murphy was amazing because I knew that doing an actor and comedian that was such an icon like he is wasn’t going to be easy. I’m glad I took the chance, and doing it while Quinta Brunson was there was incredible!

Throughout the season, you expressed how important it was for you to celebrate and uplift Black culture through your drag. Have you noticed this have an impact on viewers at home who share the same experiences as you?

Absolutely. There are so many entertainers in the world that look just like me and feel just like me, that they’re not good enough and have to work twice as hard as their white counterparts to get even half of what they have. I just want to be a reminder that, if you keep working hard and following your dreams, baby, you can also be a RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar.

When fans look back at season 17, what do you hope they say about the legacy of Onya Nurve?

I just hope they understand that drag is so much more than the things that we put on our body, that it’s an extension of what you are. But, what really matters is what’s inside all of that glitter and glam, which is you as a person, and that should always stand at the forefront of your drag.

Over the years, we’ve seen queens becoming moguls with brands, starring in movies and writing books, etc. So what’s the empire you’re hoping to build?

I hope to continue travelling the world, being the bad bitch that I am. I obviously want to be on Broadway. It’s one of my dreams, along with getting on Drag Race. I always told my mom that I want to get my EGOT! I want to get my Emmy. I want to get my Grammy. I want to get my Tony. And, I want to get my Oscar. Some way, somehow, I also want to buy a house. Those are the things that I really want to see.

‘Onya Nurve makes history as the first Drag Race contestant to become an EGOT winner’ is a headline I expect to see and will see.

I see it now!

Besides Broadway and the EGOT, if you could star in a dream project, a movie, show or music related, what would it be?

I would love to be in a movie with some powerful actors that consist of Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, Denzel Washington, Lupita Nyong’o. All in one movie, all in one space, is how I see it.

Jewels Sparkles has stepped away from social media in response to the toxic fan reaction to the Drag Race finale.

On 18 April, RuPaul inducted a brand-new champion into the Drag Race Hall of Fame during the final episode of season 17.

After weeks of intense maxi-challenges, showstopping runways and jaw-dropping lip-syncs, Jewels, Onya Nurve, Sam Star and Lexi Love reunited in front of a studio audience for one final face-off for the crown.

Like previous seasons, the four talented performers were tasked with presenting an original solo number inspired by their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent.

While the foursome delivered incredible performances, Onya and Jewels emerged victorious and were named the top two queens.

Following the Miss Congeniality crowning, the two drag powerhouses returned to the mainstage to compete in a lip-sync smackdown to Lady Gaga’s ‘Abracadabra’. 

Naturally, Jewels and Onya killed the lip-sync, bringing the beloved track to life with their electric dance moves, dips, theatrics and turns.

Ultimately, RuPaul named Onya the winner of the lip sync and Drag Race season 17.

While many viewers embraced the crowning of the Ohio-based queen, it also sparked toxic discourse – with some “fans” attempting to downplay the finale results or pit the two queens against each other.

In response to the polarising responses, Jewels took to X/Twitter with a heartfelt post praising Onya and her incredible win.

“Just hopping on to say how proud I am of @OnyaNurve. You are an absolute superstar and deserve this and the world, I can’t wait to see what you do with this reign, sister. IT DO TAKE NURVE BAYBE,” she wrote.

Jewels also revealed her temporary departure from X/Twitter, stating that she’ll return after “fans” stop feeding into the toxic finale discourse.

“Taking a break from Twitter again now to preserve my mental [health],” she said.

“It’s sad that instead of just celebrating Onya’s glorious win, people have to pit us against each other and it breaks my heart actually so I’ll be back when y’all stfu. LOVE YOU SO MUCH BYE.”

Jewels’ social media post was immediately embraced by non-toxic Drag Race fans, with one person writing: “I love you and Onya both so much and hate how negative and hateful some of the fanbase is.”

Another person tweeted: “You’re loved and admired, both of you did amazing and great things await for you two.”

A third Drag Race fan wrote: “Wild that the girls have to do this. Y’all don’t deserve them!!!”

While the pair’s Drag Race season 17 journey has ended, their upcoming schedules are set to be extremely booked and busy.

Over the next few months, Jewels and Onya will embark on solo tours and star in collaborative tours with other Drag Race alumni.

In October, the two will reunite for their own set of performances across Europe, making stops in Stockholm, Berlin, Amsterdam and Madrid.

Suzie Toot has made it “clear” about her friendship with fellow Drag Race season 17 star Lexi Love.

On this season of the Emmy Award-winning series, drama has erupted on a plethora of occasions, from Trim-Gate with Jewels Sparkles and Onya Nurve to Spray-Paint-Gate with Lexi and Onya, as well as She-Stole-All-My-Jokes-Gate with Jewels and Arrietty.

Perhaps the most confusing conflict, however, was the apparent tension between Suzie and Lexi—largely driven by Lexi, with little to no engagement from the former.

While the queens have playfully shaded each other online throughout the season, Suzie has clarified that they’re sisters for life—and that the drama, both on and off screen, doesn’t justify so-called “fans” sending hate her way.

“Hey just so [we’re] all clear,” Suzie tweeted on 15 April, “Lexi and I have been friends and continue to be friends. Our beef online is 100% a bit between friends that is fun and silly. If you participate in any kind of public hate for Lexi you are not a Tooter. Full stop.”

However, Suzie added in the comments section that it is more than okay to send hate in Kori King’s direction, telling fans to “run wild”. (It must be stressed that this is, in fact, a recurring joke between Suzie and Kori, there’s only love between them.)

Suzie’s statement on her and Lexi’s dynamic was met with praise, with one fan correctly highlighting how “any kind of hate towards a reality TV competition is really fucking wild considering that almost everything is more kikiing than real beef.”

Another said: “It’s sad these grown people do not realise that you guys filmed a show and will banter as such.”

Both Suzie and Lexi have become major fan favorites over the course of season 17; Suzie has been lauded for her sharp comedic timing and quintessential flapper-girl aesthetic, while Lexi’s high-fashion looks and endearing personality have cemented her as one of the season’s breakout stars.

Although Suzie was controversially eliminated in fifth place, she went on to conquer the Lip Sync Lalaparuza Smackdown, winning a $50,000 cash prize. Lexi made it to the final four, where she will compete against Jewels, Onya and Sam Star for $200,000 and the title of ‘America’s Next Drag Superstar’.

The Drag Race season 17 finale airs this Friday in the US on MTV and the following day on WOW Presents Plus for international viewers.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has released a trailer for All Stars 10, and as always, it promises to be the twistiest and turniest season in herstory.

In the midst of Season 17’s sickening Lip-Sync LaLaPaRuZa — conquered by Suzie Toot — the franchise dropped a short teaser revealing that All Stars 10 premieres May 9 on Paramount+ and features the biggest line-up in herstory with—wait for it—18 iconic queens.

“The BIGGER, the BETTER,” reads the trailer’s caption, while the video teases the silhouettes of each contestant, with online speculation ranging from Irene Dubois to Mistress Isabelle Brooks and even three Drag Racer Ginger Minj.

The clip also reveals this season’s theme, a “Tournament of All Stars”. No, we don’t have the foggiest, but all will be revealed in due course.

All Stars 10 premieres just three weeks after the season 17 finale, where Jewels Sparkles, Lexi Love, Onya Nurve, and Sam Star will face off — presumably in another lip-sync smackdown — to determine the successor to Nymphia Wind as America’s Next Drag Superstar.

Season nine of All Stars, which marked the spin-off’s smallest cast, memorably saw the return of Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Gottmik, Jorgeous, Nina West, Plastique Tiara, Roxxxy Andrews, Shannel and Vanessa Vanjie.

Unlike past instalments, the contestants competed for a $200,000 contribution to a charity of their choice, with Angeria emerging supreme over Roxxxy and Shannel for the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC).

While the cast for All Stars 10 is yet to be confirmed, we know of one particular queen who will definitely not be sashaying back into the werkroom: Bob the Drag Queen.

Last week, the season eight champion appeared on the podcast Boyfriend Material, where host Harry Jowsey asked if he’ll ever “go back to RuPaul”.

“I think I’m good. I won already. Also, going to All Stars is, no shade, but that’s for losers. Go back to when you lost and I won,” Bob replied, before acknowledging the franchise’s first-ever All-Winners season in 2022, which he was not invited back for.

After Harry opined that “the ratings would go crazy” if Bob made a comeback, the star responded: “In their defence, I was busy and probably would’ve said no anyway, but it is true that I wasn’t invited.”

Suzie Toot has peeled back the curtains on her controversial elimination. 

In the latest episode of Drag Race, the final five queens – Lexi Love, Jewels Sparkles, Onya Nurve, Sam Star and Suzie – were tasked with auditioning for a coveted place in RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! At Flamingo Vegas.

“First, to steal the spotlight, you’ll need to make attention-grabbing publicity photos and a promotional video,” Ru explained.

“Next, you’ll sit down with a star who’s no stranger to headlining on the Vegas strip, the large and in charge chunky yet funky, Latrice Royale. And tomorrow on the main stage, you’ll perform the world debut of Gift Shop, the newest song to be added to RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!“

While all the queens delivered unique promotional content and interviews, Suzie and Sam were unsuccessful in fully wowing Ru and the judges, resulting in their bottom two placement.

In honour of guest judge Tracee Ellis Ross, the two drag talents performed a lip sync to Diana Ross & The Supremes’ hit song ‘Love Child.’

Throughout their performance, Suzie and Sam delivered drama, comedy, emotion and passion that stunned the judges’ panel and their fellow competitors.

Following their electric lip sync, Ru named Sam the winner before asking Suzie to sashay away, which resulted in mixed reactions from viewers on social media.

One fan tweeted: “Suzie Toot lowkey needs to be compensated for her time on Drag Race like they played in her face so badly like hated by the other girls for no reason, loved by the judges until the last episode, and eliminated essentially for no reason either.”

Another viewer commented: “Suzie and Sam I am so sorry #DragRace.”

A third person added: “Sam needs to stop befriending the girls lowkey dfgfdsda every time she gets close to someone, they go home…. Lydia, Lana, and now Suzie.”

Following the episode’s release, Suzie opened up to Entertainment Weekly about all things Drag Race season 17, including her controversial departure.

When asked about the lip sync results, the beloved talent admitted to feeling confident that she beat Sam during filming.

However, after watching the episode, Suzie said her opinion changed, adding: “Watching it back, I was like, ‘No, Sam took it!'”

The 25-year-old queen echoed similar sentiments when asked if her elimination was fair and if the judges’ criticisms were justified.

“I do, absolutely! Especially after the makeover episode, when I was the first person to be called safe and – I’m using air quotes – “make it” to the top four, I felt like I’d earned it,” she explained.

“I was in the top four in my mind. Anything that was contrary to that was inconceivable, and I couldn’t hear it with any form of critical thinking.”

“My drag has changed so much, I’ve evolved so much as a queen. Suzie Toot now would’ve mopped that challenge. I expected to be vindicated, but, watching the episode, they’re kind of right.”

In addition to discussing this week’s episode, Suzie reflected on her relationship with the other season 17 queens and why she may have ruffled some of their feathers.

“It’s fascinating, because most of it was in fun and in jest. I love those girls. That’s how I joke with my friends back home. Because I can come off as grand, I can become a target in a comedic sense, and the girls understand that,” she explained.

Towards the end of her statement, Suzie assured the news outlet that there was no actual beef between her and her sisters. However, she did admit that some of their digs “lived in the world of comedy but blurred a line.”

Even though the Fort Lauderdale queen didn’t make it to the top four, her season 17 journey isn’t over yet.

In the penultimate episode of Drag Race, Suzie and the other eliminated queens will return to the mainstage to participate in a Lip Sync LaLaPaRuza for a grand prize.

Since January, fans have been glued to their televisions and laptop screens every Friday – or Saturday in the UK – to watch the 17th season of the popular drag competition series.

Like previous entries, the latest batch of episodes introduced fans to a new crop of talented queens – Acacia Forgot, Arrietty, Crystal Envy, Hormona Lisa, Jewels Sparkles, Joella, Kori King, Lana Ja’Rae, Lexi Love, Lucky Starzzz, Lydia B Kollins, Onya Nurve, Sam Star, Suzie Toot – as they throw down for the title of ‘America’s Next Drag Superstar’, a grand prize of $200,000 and a spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame.”

Following weeks of stunning runways, dramatic werkroom fights and hilarious maxi-challenges, the competition is set to end on 18 April.

While this season’s top four – or three! – queens remain a mystery, we know the grand finale will feature an appearance from one of Hollywood’s most legendary stars.

On 1 April, World of Wonder announced that Minnelli will receive the third Giving Us Lifetime Achievement Award during season 17’s final episode.

The production company also gave fans a sneak peek at the monumental moment by sharing a photo of RuPaul and the Cabaret star holding hands on stage.

Over the years, Minnelli and her incredible legacy have been honoured across the Drag Race franchise, with four different queens portraying her in the beloved Snatch Game – two of which took home the maxi-challenge win for their hilarious impersonations.

While the Arrested Development star has never joined Ru on the judges’ panel, she has always been at the top of the Drag Race guest judge wishlist.

During a 2021 interview with GAY TIMES, staple judge Michelle Visage said: “Madonna. Liza Minelli. Dolly Parton. Cher. Reba McEntire. This is the list that goes out every single year, and people think it’s us going, ‘Ask this person. Ask that person.’

“They go out when the show gets recommissioned every year, and the first thing they do is send it out to these people. The problem is, it’s a lot harder for the older people to sit there for 12 hours. It’s not easy for them. But the biggest problem is scheduling conflicts because when we film, it’s mostly when everyone is touring.”

On this week’s episode of Drag Race season 17, the top five queens – Jewels, Onya, Suzie, Lexi and Sam – will be tasked with auditioning for a role in RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! Tracee Ellis Ross, Black-ish and Girlfriends icon, will be joining the panel as a guest judge.

Arrietty has set the record straight on where she stands with Onya Nurve.

On 13 March, MTV treated fans to a sneak peek into the 11th episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17.

Picking up where last week left off, the queens returned to the workroom after Arrietty was asked to sashay away.

“This has been a really emotional elimination. Sending Arrietty home is crazy. I was put through the fire with that roast challenge. There was so much drama, so much pain, so I feel a little shaken up,” Jewels said in a confessional.

However, last week’s “drama and pain” didn’t end with the elimination.

After gathering around the mirror to read Arrietty’s going away message, the queens were taken aback by the former’s harsh words directed towards Onya Nurve.

“As one smelly bitch to another, Onya, please brush your teeth,“ Jewels read.

The message resulted in shocked reactions from the queens and tears from Onya. 

In a confessional, Jewels gave further insight into the Ohio-based queen’s emotional response, stating: “Onya has made a comment to me before, in private, that she does have a condition and she has bad breath. This is actually something that she’s been insecure about for a long time.“

Lexi Love echoed similar sentiments, adding: “She told some of us she needs to see a dentist, she don’t know what’s going on.“

While Onya was emotional over the low dig, she exclaimed that the message was precisely why Arrietty deserved to go home, adding: “Because she’s a hateful ass bitch.“

After settling on the couches, Onya spoke to the other queens about how the comment made her feel.

“You know, I would have never said anything like that to any of ya’ll for her to come at something that I’m super insecure about.

When Jewels asked why Arrietty would come for Onya, Sam Star referenced their intense Untucked argument over the roast lineup.

“I wasn’t trying to personally attack Arrietty. Just because we argue and shit don’t mean we not sisters. But that is such a low blow,“ Onya said in response.

While Arrietty and Onya’s last interaction during the competition ended on a sour note. we know that there is no bad blood between the pair now.  

Shortly after the sneak peek was released, Arrietty took to her X/Twitter account to clear the air, revealing that she and Onya “are gucci.”

Onya and I are gucci. We’ve already had our talk in person and hashed it out. I love onya. Period. 🫶🏼

“We’ve already had our talk in person and hashed it out. I love you, Onya. Period,“ she wrote.

In addition to her tweet, Arrietty left a comment under the official Drag Race Instagram post – which is currently pinned – echoing similar sentiments.

“I love you @onyanurve. We’ve already had our talk in person. But I’ll say it again. I’m sorry,“ she wrote alongside a series of heart emojis.

Onya also confirmed that she had nothing but love for Arrietty when she commented under the latter’s message, “love you sis.”

We love to see two iconic queens kiss and make up.

Suzie Toot has revealed why Jewels Sparkles didn’t expose Arrietty for stealing her jokes on this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

For their ninth maxi-challenge, the contestants roasted three legendary villains from Drag Race herstory: Kandy Muse (season 13, All Stars 8), Mistress Isabelle Brooks (season 15) and Plane Jane (season 16).

As the winner of the Betsey Johnson design challenge, Jewels was responsible for assigning the order of the queens, which she did as follows: Onya Nurve, Arrietty, Jewels, Lana Ja’Rae, Sam Star, Lydia B Kollins, Suzie and Lexi Love.

The order was met with a harsh response from both Arrietty and Lexi, who were aggravated at being placed before Jewels and after Suzie, respectively.

Although Jewels stressed that she hadn’t intended to sabotage them, Arrietty controversially stole a couple of her jokes while the queens shared their material with guest judge Whitney Cummings.

Jewels was unaware of the theft until the roast took place and Arrietty was on stage, delivering the jokes (to no laughs). To the surprise of viewers, Jewels didn’t rat out her best friend during critiques or raise the issue to the cast in Untucked.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Suzie revealed that Jewels “[didn’t tell anyone] in the moment,” and waited until a “van ride that night” to confide in her season 17 sister.

“Here’s the thing. Jewels said, ‘I’m going to hold this in. I’m not going to say it unless Arrietty says it, because if she goes home tonight, I don’t want this to be part of her narrative,’” recalled Suzie.

Jewels, who quote-tweeted the article on Twitter/X with the caption “for anyone wondering,” was praised by fans for her “congenial” approach to the drama.

“You should be the first contestant to win Drag Race AND Miss Congeniality, that was such a mature and selfless behavior for someone my age cuz I would’ve dragged her,” said one fan.

Another tweeted: “Omg can the winner of season 17 also be Ms Congeniality, because THIS is the most congenial shit I’ve ever seen.”

A third said: “You are a selfless diva for that, even after being hard done by you turned the other cheek. after shantaying, you immediately congratulated lydia on her win. you are my winner diva! I LOVE YOU DOWN!”

Ultimately, Jewels and Arrietty faced-off in the lip-sync smackdown to Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER cut ‘Ya Ya’, with the latter sashaying away in eighth place.
