Rising J-pop group f5ve have released an infectious collaboration with Kesha to coincide with the release of their long-awaited debut album.

Titled ‘Sugar Free Venom’, the high-energy, glossy dance banger celebrates female liberation and unapologetic confidence, with the quintet urging the listener to “hit the floor” and “get independent”.

In the accompanying video, f5ve transport their fans to a dreamy pink and purple nightclub, paying homage to iconic music videos such as ‘Buttons’ by The Pussycat Dolls, ‘Check on It’ by Beyoncé and ‘Pink Champagne’ by E-girls.

Kesha was presumably unavailable for the music video, with her vocals appearing only via a television screen, though she makes a hilarious cameo through archival footage of her singing ‘Die Young’ on a Tokyo subway in 2012.

‘Sugar Free Venom’ is the fourth single from their debut album SEQUENCE 01, following ‘Magic Clock’, ‘UFO’, ‘Underground’ and ‘Lettuce’. The album is executive produced by the legendary BloodPop, with additional production from A.G. Cook, Hudson Mohawke, Count Baldor and AOBeats.

Released on May 5, SEQUENCE 01 has received glowing reviews from both critics and fans for the quintet’s genre-blending sound, fusing pop, dance, rock, and funk, while maintaining their signature J-pop identity and broad appeal.

Since the release of their debut single ‘Lettuce’, f5ve – consisting of J-pop veterans Sayaka, Kaede, Miyuu, Ruri and Rui – have accumulated a passionate following, particularly amongst LGBTQIA+ people.

In a recent interview with GAY TIMES, Miyuu said: “Every time we release, the LGBTQIA+ community acts and spreads the word. Not just about our music, but the existence of f5ve to more people. So, I think more and more people are getting to know f5ve. It’s all about you, besties.”

“I’m happy that so many people have commented, spread the word, and are constantly cheering us,” added Sayaka. “I think gay people like us because we love being ourselves.”

Ruri also said that the group would “not be here today” without their rainbow fanbase: “I can’t imagine not having their support. You are an existence that must be with us; our dreams won’t come true without you. We will always be together.”

It was recently announced that f5ve will perform at the queer festival Ladyland, taking place on 27 and 28 June in Brooklyn, NYC. They join a star-studded line-up of stars including Cardi B, FKA Twigs, Pabllo Vittar, Kevin Aviance, Cobrah and more.

Orville Peck‘s latest thirst-trap has been declared the “hottest photo to ever exist”.

On Sunday (4 May), the country superstar shared a photo dump on Instagram capturing moments from his time on Broadway, where he’s currently starring as the Emcee in Cabaret.

Peck opened the photo dump with a cheeky shot of himself lounging in a chair wearing nothing but tartan shorts (or perhaps long boxers), his bare chest, legs, and feet fully on display. Notably absent was his signature mask—replaced instead by a low-slung baseball cap that partially obscured his eyes.

The post drew flirty reactions from a host of queer stars including Detox, Dexter Mayfield, Froy Gutierrez, Gunnar Montana, Heidi N Closet, Kerri Colby, Kylie Sonique Love, Lana Ja’Rae and Max Emerson.

On X/Twitter, a user hailing the photo as “the hottest” to “ever exist” went viral, resulting in responses like, “I would do things to him that even David Attenborough hasn’t seen in the wild” and “I want his Orville Pecker.”

Check out the dump below.

In Cabaret, Peck is joined by Eva Noblezada as Sally Bowles, Calvin Leon Smith as Clifford Bradshaw, Ellen Harvey as Fraulein Scheinder, Steven Skybell as Herr Schultz, Michelle Aravena as Fraulein Kost/Fritzie and Henry Gottfried as Ernst Ludwig.

In a recent interview with Johnny Sibilly on Logo’s YouTube series Spill, Peck opened up about taking on the legendary Emcee role, revealing that he’s been dreaming of this moment since he was a kid.

“It’s always been a role I wanted to play since I was little and doing theatre. It’s actually crazy. I’ve been keeping journals since I was seven years old, and they are very like, ‘today I did this’ type of journals,” he said.

“When I found out the news that I was cast, I remember a journal entry–– I went through all these journals from around 13/14, and I found the journal entry and [it said], ‘One day, I wish I can play the Emcee on Broadway.’ Isn’t that crazy?”

Peck serves as Cabaret’s new Emcee from 31 March to 20 July.

Lorde has opened up about the creative process behind her fourth studio album, Virgin, revealing that a “reexamination of her gender expression” played a significant role in its formation.

In an interview with artist Martine Syms for Document Journal, the New Zealand singer shared that she has recently “come into my masculinity a bit more,” and that her new album is a “byproduct” of “fully coming into my body and feeling the fullness of my power.”

While discussing her guest performance with Charli XCX at Coachella, Syms observed that the duo resembled “two really strong, powerful people who are also both hot and talented and having fun, getting to be themselves in a way that probably wasn’t possible 20 years ago.”

Lorde credited ongoing progress in the music industry and popular culture, “where it feels like this room for your humanity or being yourself is a little bit more prized.”

Ahead of creating Virgin, Lorde said she “read a lot of queer writers,” and revealed that the album began to take shape after she wrote the lead single, ‘What Was That,’ which marked a “rebirth” of her artistry.

“I had come back from London to New York after this period of great turbulence in my personal life,” Lorde explained. “Becoming single, but also really facing my body stuff head-on, and starting to feel my gender broadening a little bit.

Photo: Thistle Brown

“Just being back in my house and feeling this big wave of grief. I just kept thinking, What was all of that? Whether it was my seven-year relationship or a pandemic or sacrificing my body to my career since I was 16 or 17.

“This feeling of, Oh, my God, so much has moved through me. And there’s so much mystery and pain. I just held the mic and sort of walked around the room and said it all. I didn’t write anything down, which was cool.”

In an email to fans unveiling the title and cover of Virgin—which features a blue-toned X-ray of a pelvis with a visible IUD—Lorde described the album as a reflection of her femininity. Among the words she used to characterise that femininity was “masc”.

“THE COLOUR OF THE ALBUM IS CLEAR. LIKE BATHWATER, WINDOWS, ICE, SPIT. FULL TRANSPARENCY. THE LANGUAGE IS PLAIN AND UNSENTIMENTAL. THE SOUNDS ARE THE SAME WHEREVER POSSIBLE,” she wrote.

“I WAS TRYING TO SEE MYSELF, ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.”

Due for release 27 June, Virgin marks Lorde’s first full-length album since Solar Polar (2021), which delivered singles such as the title track, ‘Stoned at the Nail Salon’, ‘Fallen Fruit’ and ‘Mood Ring’.

Virgin‘s aforementioned lead single, ‘What Was That’, was met with overwhelming praise from fans and critics and debuted at number-one in her home country. Additionally, the electropop banger became her first chart-topper on US Spotify since her 2011 debut single ‘Royals’.

K-pop star Bain has come out as gay.

The JUST B member revealed the exciting news on 22 April, during the band’s recent stop in Los Angeles for their Just Odd World Tour.

Halfway through the concert, the beloved singer – whose real name is Song Byeong-hee – announced to the crowd that he had something to share.

Following an extended pause, Bain revealed that he was “fucking proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community,” resulting in thunderous applause from the audience.

The 23-year-old singer then performed a cover of Lady Gaga’s iconic LGBTQIA+ anthem, ‘Born This Way,’ while enthusiastically waving a rainbow flag.

Toward the concert’s end, Bain thanked fans for their support, adding: “I’m so happy that I can be myself. I just wanna say until next time: Stay bold, stay fierce, and lastly, always, always be your true selves.”

On 23 April, Bain took to Instagram to reflect on his coming out journey and share advice to anyone who may be struggling with their sexuality.

“I want to share something real with you. I’m proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community — as a gay person,” he wrote.

“And my queen Lady Gaga showed me that being different is beautiful. To anyone out there who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community, or still figuring it out — this is for you. You are seen, you are loved, and you were born this way.”

Since opening up about his sexuality, Bain has been met with heaps of support from K-pop fans, with many uploading congratulatory messages on social media.

One fan on X/Twitter wrote: “STFUUUUU, I’ve supported Bain since Under Nineteen, and him taking this huge step makes me so fucking proud of him!!!”

Another JUST B and Bain enthusiast on Bluesky commented: “BAIN IS THE COOLEST HES A TRUE ICON I cried I love him so much I’m so proud of him and I love how supportive the members are too that’s family fr I love just b so much.”

A third fan on Reddit added: “I’m so proud of him for being himself. It must have taken so much courage just to do the medley he’s been performing on tour so seeing him come out on top of it…

“It’s incredibly brave and I’m so happy for him.”

Bain joins the growing number of K-pop artists who have recently come out as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Back in March, KATSEYE’s Lara Raj confirmed on Weverse, an app that focuses on the interaction between fans and their favourite music idols, that she was queer.

“I knew I was half a fruitcake when I was like eight. So I really was wanting everybody,” Lara wrote. “Honestly, before eight. Isn’t fruitcake such a good way to explain it without saying it?”

Lara also opened up about her fears of coming out, revealing that she thought it would negatively impact her trajectory on Netflix’s The Dream Academy – the competition series that formed KATSEYE.

“You know, in Dream Academy, when it came out, I was really, really scared tbh. I didn’t know if people would accept me, and I really thought it would ruin my chances of getting in [the group],” she said.

“And then you all were so so nice about it and gave me so much love and support, and it made me feel so confident in who I am, so I love you for that.”

Congratulations are in order for Bain!

Shawn Mendes has debuted his new tattoo with an up-close-and-personal shirtless photo.

On April 13, LA-based tattoo artist Kane Navasard shared the photo in question, revealing Mendes’ bare torso. Centered on his chest is what’s believed to be his 19th tattoo — a bald eagle “soaring to new heights.”

All of Mendes’ tattoos carry personal significance — from the light bulb on his right arm symbolizing his second studio album Illuminate, to the meditating figure on his right wrist representing his mindfulness practice, and “Good Boy” on his left arm, which is thought to be a tribute to his dog, Tarzan.

The singer-songwriter is yet to publicly acknowledge his new tattoo or explain its meaning.

Mendes, currently on tour in support of his self-titled fifth album, memorably went viral in March for his thirsty comment on Bad Bunny’s Calvin Klein photoshoot. He simply wrote “guapo” — Spanish for “handsome.”

The flirty moment came just months after Mendes shared that he’s still “figuring out” his sexuality.

At the Colorado show of his For Friends And Family Tour (28 October), the Canadian singer took a brief pause to reflect on the viral lyrics in his song ‘The Mountain’, which are as follows: “You can say I like girls or boys, whatеver fits your mould.”

Mendes pointed out to the audience that “people have been talking about [my sexuality]” since he was “really young”, calling it “kinda silly” because, as he put it, “sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it’s so hard to just put into boxes.

“It always felt like such an intrusion on something very personal to me, something that I was figuring out in myself, something that I had yet to discover and still have yet to discover.”

He went on to share that creating ‘The Mountain’ was “very personal” for him, as it felt like the right time to address the rumors in a way that was meaningful: “I’m speaking from the heart now because I just want to be open with everyone and live in my truth.”

Amidst a round of applause from the audience, Mendes shared that the truth about his sexuality is that he’s “just figuring it out like everyone else,” adding, “Sometimes I don’t know, and other times I do. It’s really scary because we live in a society that has a lot to say about it.”

“I’m trying to be really brave and just allow myself to be a human and feel things. Yeah, that’s all I really wanna say about that for now.”

Following its long-awaited vinyl release, Ethel Cain’s debut album Preacher’s Daughter has finally reached the top ten in the US.

The critically-acclaimed album, released in 2022, also debuted at number-one on Top Album Sales with 39,000 equivalent album units, marking her best week yet. As a result, Cain makes history as the first openly trans woman to achieve a top ten album on the Billboard 200.

(Kim Petras’ highest-charting entry on the Billboard 200 was her debut album Feed the Beast, which reached #44. She did, however, become the first openly trans artist to win a Grammy Award and peak atop the Billboard Hot 100 with her Sam Smith collaboration, ‘Unholy’.)

Amid the Trump administration’s relentless attacks on the trans community, which have fostered an increasingly hostile environment for trans people in the US, the impact of seeing an openly trans icon like Ethel Cain succeed on the charts cannot be overstated.

Here’s hoping Ethel Cain scores a second consecutive top ten entry — maybe even a number-one?! — with her upcoming sophomore release, Willoughby Tucker, I Will Always Love You.

Slated for release in August 2025, the album picks up where her eerie ambient detour Perverts left off — and will reportedly act as a prequel to Preacher’s Daughter.

Alongside the album, the singer-songwriter will embark on her “biggest tour to date”, Willoughby Tucker Forever, with venues including London’s Eventim Apollo, Paris’ L’Olympia, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, Berkeley’s Greek Theater.

Thank you, gay gods! Madonna and Sir Elton John have finally ended their feud.

On 7 April, the Queen of Pop shared an Instagram post with Sir Elton, telling her followers that they have “buried the hatchet” after she attended his SNL performance with Brandi Carlile.

Madonna praised Sir Elton, saying his SNL stint reminded her of when she “snuck out of the house one night” to see the ‘Rocket Man’ singer in Detroit, which she described as an “unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music”.

“Seeing him perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life,” she explained. “I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different – to stand out – to take the road, less traveled by. In fact, it was essential.”

Their feud began in 2002 after Sir Elton described her theme to Die Another Day as “the worst Bond tune ever”. Two years later, he accused Madonna of lip-syncing at the Q Awards and said, “Madonna? Best live act? F**k off.”

“Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn’t understand it. I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go,” Madonna continued.

A post shared by Madonna (@madonna)

“I needed to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was “forgive me” and the wall between us fell down. Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging.”

Madonna concluded her post with the following pop emergency: “He told me he had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!”

Sir Elton shared Madonna’s post on his Instagram Story, and said it was a “healing moment” for them both.

The EGOT winner is currently celebrating the release of his and Carlile’s first collaborative album, Who Believes in Angels?, which is on track to become his landmark 10th number-one album in the UK.

Zolita has continued to expand her “Lesbian Cinematic Universe”.

This week, the singer-songwriter dropped the instantly iconic music video for her rousing pop-rock anthem ‘Hypocrite’, which is included on the deluxe edition of her second studio album Queen of Hearts.

In the song, Zolita confesses her hypocrisy with the following brutally honest lyrics: “I’ve been getting intimate with hot girls on the internet / Got no regrets / But I confess / If you’re doing half the shit that I’ve been doing in my bed / I’d want you dead.”

Featuring aforementioned “iconic hot girls” such as Tatiana Ringsby from her viral ‘Somebody I Fucked Once’ trilogy, Madeline Ford, Kyra Green, Vanessa Papa, Scarlett Leithold, Paige Mcgarvin and Caroline Iaffaldano, the video is – in her words – “sapphic chaos”.

Zolita even nods to the teen classic Cruel Intentions, channeling Sarah Michelle Gellar’s iconic villain Kathryn Merteuil as she tenderly brushes Ford’s hair during a picnic, before the two share a passionate kiss.

The video, directed, written, produced and edited by Zolita, highlights just how “messy – but also steamy! – lesbian breakups can get” when Zolita and Tatiana have a sexually-charged showdown, questioning each other on their post-romance sex lives and “boundaries”.

The main takeaway? It was “informative” for Tatiana to sleep with Caroline and Zolita thinks her current fuck-buddy Jenny is “funny”.

(I think I speak for everyone when I say I am living for the drama and need a two-hour feature film out of this, pronto.)

Ultimately, the clip culminates with Zolita and Tatiana each kissing other women – presumably the infamous Caroline and Jenny! – before sneaking off to passionately lock lips with each other. Plot twist!

“When I broke up with my long term partner, we argued about who would be the scarier person in the breakup; me, because I enjoy casual sex, or her, because she’s a serial monogamist,” Zolita tells GAY TIMES.

“My new music video puts that question to the test.”

In an Instagram post, Zolita also described the ‘Hypocrite’ as her “steamiest, messiest sapphic vid yet” – watch the music video below to see why.

Orville Peck has shared new details about his viral nude photoshoot.

Back in June, the country superstar surprised fans when he bared all for his cover shoot with Paper Magazine.

In one snapshot, the ‘Dead of Night’ singer was photographed without his kit, sitting atop a bull of the bondage variety (kinda), with just his mask, a neckerchief and matching gold gloves.

Another photo featured Peck’s bare ass on full display, while another paid homage to Chris Evans’ nude scene in Not Another Teen Movie with whipped cream covering his nipples and intimate region.

Naturally, the shoot was an immediate hit with fans and has become one of the singer’s most iconic career moments to date.

On 25 March, Peck reflected on the aforementioned cover while appearing on a new episode of Logo’s YouTube series Spill with Johnny Sibilly.

When asked if his DMs blew up after the release of the Paper shoot, the Stampede singer said: “It was bananas, yeah. It’s funny… when I did that shoot, I obviously knew what I was doing, and we were doing what the mission statement was, but I never assumed anything, and so I was sort of like, ‘Oh, right.'”

While he admitted to receiving a passionate response from fans on social media, Peck revealed that he usually doesn’t receive thirsty or graphic DMs.

“I probably shouldn’t say this because then my inbox is going to be f**ked up, but I don’t get very many, what I feel are sort of thirsty disrespectful DMs,” he explained.

A post shared by Logo (@logotv)

“This is going to sound kind of corny, but I get a lot of queer people DMing me with pretty heartfelt stories about maybe what they found in my music or what I’m doing in country. My DM’s are mostly that, but now I don’t know. Now I’m going to be bombarded.”

Peck also shared new behind-the-scenes details about the shoot, like whether he was cold or was actually nude.

“It was the summer in Los Angeles. But they gave me a modesty thong that they wear in like sex scenes in movies and stuff,” he revealed.

“I mean modesty; they should just take that word out of it because there is no modesty involved. So, I’m walking around naked, essentially. But it was interesting.”

Elsewhere in his interview, Peck gushed about joining the Broadway cast of Cabaret.

When asked how rehearsals were going, the ‘Midnight Ride’ singer described the experience as “so much fun” and “exhausting”.

“I forgot how hard it is. I’m just completely exhausted after a day of rehearsals. It’s a very busy part and so there is a lot to kind of wrap my head around,” he explained.

Lastly, Peck opened up about taking on the legendary Emcee role, revealing that he’s been dreaming of this moment since he was a kid.

“It’s always been a role I wanted to play since I was little and doing theatre. It’s actually crazy. I’ve been keeping journals since I was seven years old, and they are very like, ‘today I did this’ type of journals,” he told Sibilly.

“When I found out the news that I was cast, I remember a journal entry–– I went through all these journals from around 13/14, and I found the journal entry and [it said], ‘One day, I wish I can play the Emcee on Broadway.’ Isn’t that crazy?”

Peck’s run as Cabaret’s new Emcee is set to kick off on 31 March and end on 20 July.

Lady Gaga has finally announced The MAYHEM Ball Tour!

On 26 March, the pop icon revealed that she will travel across North America, Europe and the UK later this year in support of her seventh studio album MAYHEM.

It will follow Gaga’s headlining sets at Coachella, stadium residencies in Mexico City and Singapore, as well as her landmark free concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.

The MAYHEM Ball commences 16 July in Las Vegas a T-Mobile Arena, before travelling to cities such as Seattle, New York, Miami, Toronto, Chicago, London, Stockholm, Milan, Barcelona and Berlin.

Tickets for the North American dates will be available on Monday 31 March with various presales, while the Artist Presale begins Wednesday 2 April (you can sign up here!). General on-sale kicks off on Thursday 3 April via LiveNation.

Released earlier this month, MAYHEM made history as Gaga’s most acclaimed studio album to date with a rating of 84/100 on Metacritic.

Featuring the lauded singles ‘Disease’ and ‘Abracadabra’, as well as future hits ‘Killah’, ‘Zombieboy’ and ‘Shadow of a Man’ (we could honestly name the whole album), MAYHEM debuted at number-one in various territories – including the UK and U.S. – and was the biggest female debut of the year on Spotify.

The new era has been one for the herstory-books, with Mother hitting new peaks critically and commercially. Her Bruno Mars-assisted single ‘Die With A Smile’ has broken records as Spotify’s longest-running number-one, while ‘Abracadabra’ became her highest solo debut on the platform.

Additionally, Gaga surpassed her ‘Rain On Me’ collaborator Ariana Grande to become the female artist with the most monthly Spotify listeners.
